Worshiping
at Bethany
Trinitarian
Worship
Robin Parry in his
book Worshiping Trinity asks a very important
question: At what point does worship cease to be Christian
worship
and become simply Christians worshipping?” At Bethany, we
are serious about dealing with this question. If worship is about
God
and God is a Trinity then worship is about the Trinity. We believe
that
we worship God the Father through Jesus Christ in the power of
the
Spirit. Our worship is acceptable to God only because of who we
are in
Christ Jesus. As much as we love and enjoy music and the arts,
they
are not the means of our worship; they are an expression of our
worship.
Jesus Christ and our union with him is our means to worshiping
the
living God. It is from this very important theological foundation
that we
can now describe the worship ministries at Bethany.

Praising God at Bethany
We believe that praise in the Bible is usually expressive
and
demonstrative. It is neither secretive nor unresponsive. When people
in
the Bible praised the Lord, singing, playing instruments, clapping,
shouting, kneeling, lifting hands and even dancing were used to
express
gratitude to God. Certainly, there are also times for silence and
reflection.
But we never want to be embarrassed to express our gratitude to
the
One who gave His all for us.
Word of God
-
We believe that the Word of God not only informs
but that it
performs and transforms. Therefore, we place a high value
on the reading, preaching and teaching of God's Word at Bethany.
Our primary objective in the ministry of the Word is to know
God and
to get on His agenda. When studying the Bible, we are not
just
studying propositional truth, we are learning about the God
who
has revealed Himself. Knowing God and His will is what we
desire
more than anything else when studying the Bible in our corporate
worship gatherings.
Music
- Oftentimes the church is stuck over styles of
music. Should we
be contemporary or traditional? We believe that this is the wrong
question. Instead of debating over hymns and choruses we should
be asking, “Are we engaging our culture with the Gospel
in
a way that they understand?” Bethany is very purposeful
in
this mission. Whether it is sending people around the world or
equipping people right here at home, we want every generation
and
ethnic representation to express their love to God through their
music and art.
Artistic Worship
- We desire to incorporate all of the arts into
our worship services whenever possible. If you are gifted in creative
communication,
please let us know. We will never know unless you let us know
that you have a heart for this area.

& arts ministry here at Bethany, please contact Tim Macres,

The
Lord's Table
- At Bethany, our purpose in celebrating the Lord's
Table is to
remember what Christ has done for us and to give thanks for
God’s covenant love. We invite every believer to join us.
We celebrate communion one to three times a month as a part
of our Sunday morning worship services.
Baptism
- If you have a relationship with Jesus Christ
and have never
been baptized, we encourage you to be baptized. We believe
that baptism is a public proclamation of your faith in Jesus Christ
before your family and friends. If you would like to be baptized,
please call the church office. We will then encourage you to meet
with one of our pastors who will schedule this glorious celebration
of your life in Christ.
Infant
Dedication
- At
Bethany, we ask the Lord publicly, to bless your children. We
also ask the congregation to commit to pray for your children
and
to be a Christian example. We will also challenge you, as parents,
to live your life in such a way that your children will want to
follow Christ.
All Church
Prayer Meeting
- Sundays
at 8 AM in the Fireside Room.
Each week we gather to ask God to bless and empower
everything that will happen that Sunday and the upcoming week.
We would love to have you join us.
Prayer
- Church
Prayer Chain - actively praying daily for the praises
and requests of the Bethany community. Prayer items can be submitted
through the Communication Slip in the bulletin, by
calling the church office or by emailing the church office.
Furthermore you can request the Elders of the church to come
and anoint you with oil and pray specifically for a need following
the example of James 5.
